He was (looked) ready last season though. So what has changed?

Three games last year was a false economy. It's much easier to get up for 3 games when you're replacing the first choice HB than dealing with the weekly grind of managing the position yourself. We were warned a few times last season about him being young and needing time by Bellyache, Smithy and Frank P but I think we didn't want to hear what they were saying because we wanted to believe the kid was ready to go.

He'll be fine. More concerned about some of the performances of our senior players. And I'm not talking Hoffman.

I agree, Smith, Slater, Chambers etc have been nowhere near their best to start the year. Hoffy was great against the Tigers, can’t fault him there. We looked much better in the second half last week once Smith started running the ball. Plus our forward pack hasn’t performed well enough imo, apart from the cowboys game the oppositions pack has out performed ours. Croft isn’t to blame for our loses

Not that I don't like this but where does Munster play then?

Foxsports has Croft as having the lowest amount of possessions per game for a halfback in the comp so far with 30 per game. Munster is also one of the lowest for 5/8ths with 29 per game. JT and Pearce are the high end with 60. Most of the dominate halves sit between 40-50. Unfortunately fox only do stats for this year so we can't compare to what they were doing last season or how bigger gap there is with Cronk.

Takeaway though is we really need Croft to go looking for the ball more and be a halfback. We also need Smith to show more faith in him.

Agreed, Smith should go to him more however Croft needs to shoulder some of the responsibility though, Smith will go to him more if he doesn't throw asinine short balls resulting in turnovers.

We also need to hold the ball so we get to the back-end of our sets when the halves typically get more touches...

I actually think Cam Smith is scared to throw it to Croft because he thinks that within 10 seconds he is going to have to pick the ball off the ground.
