Why is everybody down on Kenny? He is a good player, I thought he went pretty good last year and I want him to get Tohu’s spot. I have him ahead of Hoffy and Stimson. But most here seem to want him out of the 17

Most people want to see Stimson follow the Harris route and fully expect Hoffman to play a role. Kenny is just the odd man out. I expect most we Stimson fans will be disappointed though.

Yeah I like Stimson as much as the next guy but I just don’t think he’s ready to take the starting spot just yet. And I think Hoffy is gunna be more a mentor to the younger guys then a starter.

I wanna throw a left field option out there. How about NAS going out wide? We could have a prop rotation of Bromwich, Kasiano, Glasby & either P. Kaufusi or Welch. Having NAS out there running at the halves would give the opposing teams nightmares

What I think we have got this year is amazing variety.

Melbourne Storm have been accused in the past of doing the same thing over and over and over again.

The one thing we did really well last year was change it up!

This year, we can hit you with 5 or 6 different looks and different players playing different roles within the course of an offensive drive.

We can get players to swap roles during the game and opposition teams wont know who is playing what role - when or how.

For periods of the game we can run BS or CS at DH and run big Nelson as an edge player like we did in the Broncos try in the finals.

We will run so many plays and player movements within those plays during a game; defences will be left scratching their heads.

One of the best thing we did a few years ago was put a focus on getting some size into our forward pack. Smith and Bellamy have spoken about it a few times, Cam walked into Bellamy's office and said, "we need some size".

It really helps us in the ruck battle. As footy has been for >100 years, you win the ruck - you go a long way to winning the game.

Yes, we lose Jordan this year but replace him with a guy that is the same height and slightly heavier.

Jesse
Kasiano
NAS
Welch

All between 6'4" - 6'7" and 110kg - 125kgs. Huge boys... Not just size though - stamina, agility and defence are critical and Bellamy gets the big boys all pulling their weight for the team (so to speak).

I don't think it's most people. Probably just me...

And it's not that I don't like Kenny - I appreciate all that he has done in the purple jersey. It is not about removing Kenny from the 17, more about what the other players in our squad can offer.

We tried Kenny as a starting edge backrower before. That didn't really work out.
Hoffman is in the twighlight of his career. I don't see him regathering 2012 form or energy.
Stimson has looked good without being great in his opportunities to date.

Whichever way that left edge backrow position goes for Round 1, I am sure there will be lots of competition and pressure to perform. Hopefully it encourages someone to take their game to a new level.

This is why Cameron Smith might be an even better coach than Bellamy.
He understands the game so well. As soon as Cameron retires; we must make him head coach.

The improvement in the size of the pack; is the reason we won the premiership last year.
And will be the reason we are competitive this year.
They talk about the big 3 but it is the PACK that win games.
That is why Sam Kasiano will be the most important player this year and his integration in the team is crucial to how we perform this year.
If Big Sam can roll back the clock and somehow play out of his skin; we can really challenge.
If our Pack performs; we win. No matter who plays 1, 6, 7 and 9.
The better Pack wins most games.

Yeah i reckon we've been grooming cam to take over from Craig for a while now.

The only obstacle would be if he'd rather do media.

Based on his comments to date when asked about it, I don’t think he wants to go in to a head coaching role... He always points to the amount of work Bellamy puts in and the stress that comes with the role.

I think he will end up in the media, have some role with the Storm and do some specialist coaching.

I still reckon there is a chance he will become the CEO of the NRL one day. He is kind of auditioning now as Rugby League Players' Association president.

I would think Brandon spends some time at DH - quick, strong legs taking darting runs.
Cam spends some time at first/second receiver. Organisation, support to two young halves, take the pressure off Croft in tight situations, help with kicking game until Munster can develop this area of his game.

I would probably try and time it that Brandon runs on at the same time as Kasiano's second stint (assuming he starts). Sam can get quick PTBs and Brandon can jump off the back of them.

It would leave us one true running forward short on the field so we would have to be getting a good return from the runs Brandon takes during his time on the field.

Couldn't agree more!

I'm pretty sure he started while Tohu was injured this year and did everything that was asked of him.

I remember after he had a good game it was "Tohu who?"

Now it's "he's not ready". I don't even know what that means.
