Postby NevilleB » Thu Oct 19, 2017 10:30 am

We're the travelling gypsies this year. Every bloody city we have to hit. Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane twice, nz twice, Townsville, goldy, newcastle. Ffs

NRL take control of the draw and one of the big reasons was to eliminate 5 day turnarounds. We still get FOUR.

Two five day turnarounds between home games.
One travelling from an away game and then playing at home 5 days later.
One five day turnaround between away games (Newcastle to Perth).

The NRL are beyond hopeless ::)

In terms of the games we play, it looks like a reasonably soft draw.

We play 2017 Top 4 teams four times in total (Broncos twice, Roosters once, Eels once).
We play 2017 Top 8 teams eleven times in total (As above plus Sharks twice, Sea Eagles twice, Cowboys twice, Panthers once).

No reason we cannot secure a top 4 spot again next year.

It really not the NRLs fault that ANZAC day falls on a Wednesday. If you want to play that day you have to like it or lump. Also we go Newcastle to Adelaide in Round 16 not quite as far, but still a five day turn around.

I just noticed we do not go to Canberra, or did I miss that.

Oh and I hope Slater is "injured" in round 1.

*lima lima lima duck* the NRL for scheduling his 30th game away!

Although we have sold a home game v GC, it seems we play 3 "away" games at neutral venues - Dogs, Tiges, Roosters . A couple of those early on. So though 13 games away from AAMI, only 9 at hostile venues.

Sorry, my error. The Roosters sold their 2017 game against us, but next year we have them in Sydney.

Apparently Roosters are playing a game in Adelaide in 2018 but are yet to announce which game it is.

So, in the last 6 rounds we play four teams for the very first time?
