The key 3 minutes

Postby RobbieRoss » Thu Oct 05, 2017 5:50 pm

Having watched the GF for the fourth time last night ( I expect to be in double figures by the end of the month ) , I think there was a key 3 minute period - from around 59 to 62 minutes - that won the game for us.

Cowboys were down 18-6, but attacking. They got a repeat set due to a touch by Dale. Cameron Smith made a great tackle on Jason T.

Then :

1. Morgan kicked early to the left.
2. Winterstein did not expect it, and Suli turned around and caught it.
3. After 3 tackles we had only advanced to our 20 m line.
4. Jordan made a strong 12 m hit up.
5. Jesse made another 10-12 m.
6. Munster sent a bouncing kick down to Coote.
7. Cronk chased at 100% and got him in a superb legs tackle.
8.Two plays later, they knocked on.
9. At the scrum, there was a close up of Smith, who looked knackered.
10. From the scrum our forwards get us to 2 metres out under the posts.
11. Smith sends Finucane over.
12. Game over.

We could easily have been 18-12 and on the defensive. But everyone lifted, they cracked, and 3 minutes later we were 24-6 and it was in the bag.

Just superb play. Sunday was not as easy as the scoreboard said. The boys were challenged, and came through brilliantly .

What a great ending to a great season !

Smitty always looks knackered.

But he never is.

He is a rugby League machine.....just turning up play after play after play and performing brilliantly...

I watched it again last night . Not getting sick of it at all !

In the interests of accuracy, I note re point 3 above that after 3 tackles we had only advanced to our 10m line.

The Cronk tackle ( point 7') was an absolute pearler.
