Re: Melbourne boss knew of the penalties to come before telling NRL of rorts

Rumours abound (via Eddie on Triple M) that several of the independant board members are planning a legal challenge on the basis of a lack of procedural fairness. There is supposed to be an announcement from the Club - which could either be the start of legal proceedings with News Ltd board members ...

Re: salary cap talk

Considering they don't want to damage the image of the game, how does Thurston re-signing with the Cowboys for three years for a total amount of $2 million - mostly made up of "legal" 3rd party agreements. The very same 3rd party agreements that for Storm are constantly considered part of the cap. *...

Re: Cameron Smith

Might just be me, but I started seeing Blair as the "player you hate at other clubs" - or Storm's very own "Gallen". He seems to play slightly dirty, always on the edge. Really didn't like what I was seeing from him last night!

Re: stadium

I found the whole experience to be odd. This is the first major stadium since Docklands in Melbourne, and I would have thought they'd learn from the design mistakes there! My dad and I went for a wander to check where our seats are for Storm games - quickly found that row H is most definitely NOT un...

Re: Are they serious? Get real NRL

Or a $2,000 increase to each player in the top 25 per year! Considering that the NRL pays clubs $600,000 less than the cap, and the cap is $600,000 less than when it first launched (compared against what CPI increases would have made it) there's a $1.2 million gap between what the NRL pays and what ...

Re: GI being courted by Essendon....

Pretty much the same thing Gallop orchestrated to keep Joey in the game. Just legal and endorsed. As opposed to our illegal because they were unendorsed. Just had a vision: NRL forces Storm to move on, say Cam Smith to get under the cap. No other club can take him under the salary cap, so to ensure ...

Re: GI being courted by Essendon....

How much credence you put into it, but Hutchy has confirmed that Izzy has been tested by the AFL and that Izzy's management approached the AFL. He would be an even bigger coup for the AFL bringing huge PR to the GWS team. It's expected Izzy will decide tomorrow to not continue with Brisbane and open...

Re: Exit stage left: News Ltd demands Storm player sale

As a result, deals such as Smith's $100,000 arrangement with Fox Sports will continue to be counted as part of the Storm's $4.1 million salary cap for the remaining three seasons of his current contract with the club. NRL chief executive David Gallop said the guarantees were considered the same as ...

Re: Jayco and Suzuki stick with storm

I can recommend ING for a personal transaction bank. I had been looking at ME bank for a business account - but luckily for me, they don't really do business accounts! If you do have a HostPissweak super account, there are plenty of other Industry Super Funds you can switch to. Unfortunately one of ...

Re: Storm Ownership?

The club would need something in the range of $20 million to $30 million EVERY year in revenue (does anyone have an exact figure for this?). Memberships would account for $3 milion (if 10,000 members @ $300 per membership). Sponsorships would be a couple of million. Gate receipts remain to be seen u...
